The holiday season offers the perfect opportunity for our members to give back to the communities we serve and support some important causes.
This year, the YRPA will be partnering with York Regional Police (YRP) in delivering the 2021 Holiday Heroes Campaign supporting the Salvation Army and Victim Services of York Region, as well as partnering with Boom 97.3FM on their Make-A-Wish campaign.
GIFT CARD TO HELP THOSE IN NEED
Through YRP’s annual Holiday Heroes campaign, YRPA will be distributing gift cards for our frontline members to distribute to people in the community they wish they could help. These people may be homeless, victims or simply someone who needs a helping hand.
HOPE IN MOTION BACKPACKS
Started by Constable Allison Cornfield in #1 District, the goal of this initiative is to create positive interactions with individuals in the community most in need. Through the Holiday Heroes program, YRPA has sponsored these backpacks which have been placed in the trunk of each service vehicle for officers to distribute to people in need. Backpacks include the essential items: gloves, hat, warm socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, granola bars, deodorant, hand and foot warmers.
ADOPT A FAMILY
As part of Holiday Heroes, YRPA has ‘adopted’ two families of Victim Services of York Region. We have delivered toys, clothing, essential items and gift cards to help these families in need.
