Over the past four years, the Autism Heroes Endurance Challenge has raised more than $82,000 for people in the neurodiverse community. This year all funds will help to support Autism Ontario and Special Olympics Ontario.
HISTORY
This event was first created in 2020, by YRPA Member & YRP Constable Adam McEachern, who was inspired by the love and dedication for his son, Caleb who is on the autism spectrum. Through physical effort the charity aims to demonstrate the importance of standing up to do hard things, to be a hero, to help raise awareness and understanding.
2024 EVENT DETAILS
This year’s 24 hour event will be held from Saturday, April 20 to Sunday, April 21 and will be a 66 miles (106 kilometres) run/walk.
Community members are encouraged to participate:
- Kick-off Leg: 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The run starts at York Regional Police Headquarters – 47 Don Hillock Dr, Aurora and travels approximately 6km to the Newmarket Soccer Club, 621 Newpark Blvd, Newmarket.
- Event Launch & Soccer Match: 1:15pm to 2:00pm, at Newmarket Soccer Club, between York Regional Police members and Newmarket Soccer Club.
- Endurance Leg: 2:00pm until 12:00pm on Sunday, April 21, the remainder of the 24 hour run/walk will continue on the track surrounding the Newmarket Community Gardens located at 900 Mulock Drive, Newmarket. Parking and facilities are available at the Magna Centre – located at 800 Mulock Dr, Newmarket.
SIGN UP & PARTICIPATE
Participants are invited to come out to run/walk as far as they like. The event will proceed rain or shine, heat or cold. Cost to participate is $40 and includes an event t-shirt.
