AURORA, ON – June 11, 2026 – A day dedicated to remembrance, community, and giving back has resulted in a significant impact for local charities and police families.

York Regional Police Association’s 36th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament, held June 10 at Pheasant Run Golf Club, brought together 156 golfers and raised $20,000 in support of two deserving causes. Proceeds included $15,000 for Community Living Central York and $5,000 for the Association’s Benevolent Fund.

For more than three decades, the Memorial Golf Tournament has been much more than a day on the golf course. It is a cherished tradition that honours the memory of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while strengthening the Association’s longstanding commitment to supporting those in need.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued generosity of our sponsors, participants, volunteers, and supporters,” said Sean Briard, President of the York Regional Police Association. “This tournament not only honours the memory of our fallen officers, but also reflects the values of service, compassion, and community that are central to our profession. The funds raised will have a direct and positive impact on individuals and families across York Region and within our policing community.”

The tournament’s primary charitable beneficiary, Community Living Central York, supports more than 1,000 individuals with diverse abilities across York Region through housing, employment services, day and evening programs, and respite care. The organization’s work helps individuals build independence, connections, and opportunities within their communities.

“Community Living Central York is incredibly grateful to the York Regional Police Association, tournament participants, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this year’s Memorial Golf Tournament such a success,” said Andrew Fagan, CEO, Community Living Central York. “Your ongoing support continues to create meaningful opportunities for supported individuals and helps ensure they can build connections, participate in our community, and pursue greater independence. More than a donation, this support represents a commitment to inclusion, belonging, and creating a stronger community for everyone. On behalf of the individuals, families, and staff at CLCY, thank you for making such a meaningful impact each year.”

Funds raised for the Benevolent Fund will provide critical financial assistance to Association members and their families during times of hardship caused by illness, injury, or death.

The Association extends its sincere appreciation to the many sponsors whose support made the event possible, including SurNet Ellen Peterman Insurance, Harry Black, and Zare Paralegal Services. Their support, along with the dedication of volunteers and participants, helped make the tournament another success.
